the story so far ...
For several years, only shipping companies and their insurance agents dealt with the bizarre "coast guard" - claiming to protect Somalian waters from exploitation and pollution; audacious ventures which grew from seizing foreign fishing vessels and yachts to ever larger merchant ships, even petroleum supertankers (ransomed for millions) and a freighter carrying battle tanks from Russia bound for Kenya ! Finally some governments took note, naval task forces were dispatched and a few of the most recent hijackings were intercepted and foiled, the first deadly shots have been fired, but can the Multinational forces truly prevail ? The Pirates come from many intertwined Clans, and loyalty lies only with the Clan, and ones self - someone will end up rich no matter what even as government forces storm ashore, hampered by not really knowing where the hostages are, who is just an innocent local civilians, and what exactly the unidentified foreigners mixed in are up to.
Operation Hydra will be held at Fightertown, a relatively new paintball park in Surprise, it's tucked away on the side of Speedworld - a pretty popular racetrack complex in Surprise. The owners tell me that a lot of times the most popular computer mapping/directing software get it all wrong (it's happened to me) and too many visitors have gotten lost so we're working on getting a better map to go along with the game poster, etc. but it's taking us a few more days.
The fields website is fightertownpaintballpark.com/
They've promise me they'll have their Forums up and running soon, anyone interested can always contact me directly ... please put some indication of paintball, scenario, or Dreadnought in the subject line. This will be the first 2-Day Scenario held at Fightertown but the owners have built a great field and I've been involved with Scenario play and production for 10 years and I can tell you that this an excellent site. The town and trenches and vehicles and helicopters are outstanding, very topical.
As to the game - The Missions and Characters and Props for OH are in development at this time, but a starting point for players is the option to pre-reg as a specific country or Clan - so if you're MilSim players and have a country you "do" ... this is a Scenario you'll enjoy, you can sign yourselves up to be the British, Russians, Norwegians, etc. Players will each have a Skill or Talent that figures into the action, the Generals will need each player to pitch in - "OK, I need two Engineers, a Geologist, and an Interpreter, plus two guys with Pump markers for this Mission". If you want to be a Somali it would fantastic if you want to make your own "pug" that looks like a small boat ...there could be a very special mission coming your way !
Operation Hydra isn't another 'scenario' where you just race back and forth raising flags, Dreadnought Adventures aims to please and this will be a real Scenario to make your efforts worthwhile. Command positions are available, contact Steve / Dreadnought Adventures at 253-830-4556.
